5G-MAG REFERENCE TOOLS
DEFINING THE DEVELOPMENT ROADMAP 2023
GENERAL INFORMATION AND SCOPE
5G-MAG would like to define the roadmap for the 5G-MAG Reference Tools development programme in 2023 in close contact with the industry and the community of developers.
Input is key to foster a market-oriented implementation of use cases and applications into the 5G-MAG Reference Tools.
Some initial 3GPP Rel-16 features are available, but roadmap planning for 2023 is now ongoing.
What we intend to do:
Provide an overview of media-centric 5G technologies and features in 3GPP Rel-16 & Rel-17
Drive the implementation of market-oriented use cases and applications into the 5G-MAG Reference Tools 2023 development roadmap by:
Creating use cases / scenarios that make use of the features and the reference tools expected to be implemented and showcased
Evaluating implementation efforts and prioritize use cases based on member support, interest and feasibility
Communicate the roadmap to the developer and public community.
How we want to proceed:
A series of calls (from June to September)
Request for new use-cases + open discussion on GitHub
Identification of features and potential development efforts
All the necessary steps to participate are explained below together with instructions to take part in the calls and the proposed homework.
METHODOLOGY, CALENDAR & CALLS
The proposed calendar:
CALL 1 - 17th JUNE 2022. 5G & Media, all what we need to know. Presentation of media-centric 5G technologies and features in 3GPP Rel-16 and Rel-17
CALL 2 - 8th JULY 2022. Development of use cases/scenarios (I)
CALL 3 - END OF JULY 2022 (TBC). Development of use cases/scenarios (II)
CALL 4 - AUGUST 2022 (TBC). Presentation to the development community and identification of interested members to support design and implementation
INPUT YOUR USE CASE INTO TARGET 2023
You will be redirected to a Google Form in order to provide information about your use case. There are some fields to give a general overview about it and any more details in terms of features and implementation details.
How to describe a use case? Please find some hints on the slides presented by David Vargas (Slides 10 and 11).
RECEIVED USE CASES
The use cases descriptions and the files will be shown below after the Project Office has processed and checked the information provided.
