5G-MAG operates through three governance layers: a General Assembly representing all members, an elected Steering Group serving two-year terms, and three operational workgroups where members collaborate on specific functions.

Steering Group (2025–2027)
The Steering Group 2025–2027 comprises 17 members from diverse organizations:
- Chair: Frédéric Gabin (Dolby Laboratories)
- Vice-Chairs: Victor Kueh (Huawei) and Robin Ribback (Swiss TXT)
Three Core Workgroups
WG TECH: Technology and Standards — Handles requirements gathering, profile development, standards liaison with bodies like 3GPP, and execution plan management alongside the Project Office.
WG DEV: Development and Ecosystem — Coordinates software development roadmaps, maintains tutorials and documentation, drives testbed engagement, and manages execution plans with the Project Office.
WG PC: Promotion and Communication — Manages event participation, member activity communication, and external association liaisons.
Additional Structures
The association sponsors the Media Connectivity Software Accelerator, an open-source software development community, managed by two coordinators: Daniel Silhavy and Nils Duval, both reachable via reference-tools@5g-mag.com.
