New Releases! - XR Media Player for Android

We are happy to announce the XR Player v1.0.0 which provides initial support for the MPEG_anchor extensions to glTF format on Android smartphones.


Initial support for augmented reality, overlaying a scene or a node on top of a real world view, anchoring their position to objects detected :

👉 support for anchoring to 2D markers

👉 support for anchoring to the floor

👉 support for anchoring to horizontal/vertical planes

👉 support for anchoring to the viewer and controllers

👉 support for anchoring to geospatial coordinnates

The test content repository has been updated with relevant scenes to support this release: https://github.com/5G-MAG/rt-xr-content


A pre-compiled .apk for arm64 smartphones can be found on the github release page: https://github.com/5G-MAG/rt-xr-unity-player/releases/tag/v1.0.0

It requires Android 9.0 – API Level 28 - or above, and has been tested on Google Pixel 8 smartphones.
