WG CONTENT DISTRIBUTION

CD

WG CD is responsible for:

  • Analysing commercial aspects on the deployment and implementation of 5G technologies for media distribution 

  • Examining key emergent technologies from standardization bodies suitable to address current and future needs in the domain of media distribution

  • Developing architectures and requirements to be input into standards

  • Monitor projects and trials of relevance

  • Move towards analysis of specifications and implementation

Topics within the scope of WG CD:

  • Services: Distribution of TELEVISION, RADIO, IMMERSIVE MEDIA, ON-DEMAND and PERSONALISED services leveraging 5G thecnologies

  • Networks: 5G mobile networks, terrestrial broadcast, satellite, content delivery networks, etc.

  • Devices: Smartphones, Smart TVs, Connected Cars, Home Gateways, Wereables, Haptics, etc.

  • Technologies: Mobile Broadband, 5G Broadcast, Multicast, Media Streaming, Multi-access Edge Computing, Caching, etc.

WG CP is responsible for:

  • Analysing commercial aspects on the use of 5G for media production and contribution applications

  • Examining key emergent technologies from standardization bodies suitable to address current and future needs in the domain of media production and contribution

  • Developing architectures and requirements to be input into standards

  • Monitor projects and trials of relevance

  • Move towards analysis of specifications and implementation

Topics within the scope of WG CD:

  • Applications: Use of 5G for larrge-scale events, remote production, multi-camera scenarios or news-gathering, among others

  • Network tools: Leveraging 5G and related technologies for media production and contribution applications

  • Equipment: Smartphones, modems and devices providing the necessary connectivity on-site and remotely

  • Deployments: Public and non-public networks, cloud-based infrastructure, software-defined networks,...

WG REGULATION, POLICY AND SPECTRUM

RPS

WG RPS is responsible for:

  • Evaluating and understanding the regulatory framework for the use of 5G in the domains of media production and distribution

  • Monitoring 5G spectrum availability worldwide and spectrum access frameworks for relevant applications in the media industry

 

Topics within the scope of WG RPS:

  • Understanding the regulatory framework for media distribution applications: Frequency bands, regulation on net-neutrality, zero-rating, spectrum access regimes,... for media distribution over mobile, terrestrial and satellite 5G networks

  • Understanding the regulatory framework for 5G-based PMSE and Media Production: Bands suitable for media production applications locally and temporary. spectrum access and spectrum sharing models

WG RPS investigates and provides information to our members on the topics defined in the WORK ITEMS of the CD and CP groups.
