On 21 October 2026, Frédéric Gabin, 5G-MAG Chair, took part in the 3GPP Project Coordination Group meeting (PCG#57) and presented the latest news from 5G-MAG. The contribution, PCG57_25, is listed on the liaison statements page.

The news slides cover five areas:

  • 6G and 6G Media. An AI traffic characterization testbed, avatar calls on phones and a reference SWAP server, with the 3GPP specifications they follow.
  • Advanced Media Delivery. CMCD and QoE metrics reporting in 5G Media Streaming, and a CMMF encoder.
  • 5G MBS and 5G Broadcast. Rel-18 MBS functions, a full gNB stack for MBS broadcast, and the 5G Broadcast work that follows Rel-19.
  • 5G Broadcast PlugFest. Four vendors tested interoperability at Fraunhofer FOKUS in Berlin on 9 to 11 June 2026. Read the PlugFest report.
  • The 2026 feedback loop. Issues raised on 3GPP specifications through GitHub, and the change requests that came back from 3GPP groups. See issue tracking.

A second deck gives an overview of 5G-MAG's scope, projects and ways to join. Both decks are in the PCG57_25 download on the liaison statements page.
